Assessing the Journey: Long-Term Effects of Early Childhood Programs
Pamela Jervis (Assistant Professor from University of Chile) and Gianina Morales Suazo
Morsel is currently supporting the follow-up phase of a long-term research project on Early Childhood Development in rural Odisha. This project, led by researchers from the University of Chile and Yale University, evaluates the lasting impact of an early stimulation and enhanced preschool intervention on children’s developmental outcomes.
The study is being conducted across three districts in Odisha—Cuttack, Balasore, and Bolangir—and has been running in multiple stages since its launch. Morsel has been a key partner in implementing data collection activities throughout the project’s life cycle, from baseline to midline, endline, and now the follow-up phase.
The ongoing follow-up survey aims to assess the long-term effects of the intervention, nearly five years after its conclusion. This work continues to generate valuable insights into the role of early childhood interventions in shaping future developmental outcomes.
